Outpatient Treatment Program

Kai Shin's Intensive Outpatient Services (IOP) are Temporarily Paused

At Kai Shin Clinic, We Treat the Whole Person

The treatment team at Kai Shin Clinic consists of industry-leading Addiction Medicine doctors, Psychiatrists, licensed alcohol and drug counselors, mental health counselors, and psychologists to provide comprehensive care and treatment of the whole person. Treatment programming consists of group and individual psychotherapy to help an individual meet personal treatment and recovery goals.  We use evidence-based therapeutic approaches in both group and individual sessions.

Some of the therapeutic techniques include:

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy
  • DBT skills
  • Acceptance and commitment therapy
  • Mindfulness
  • Motivational interviewing
  • Health realization
  • Relapse prevention
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Increasing a sense of meaning and purpose in life

Another significant aspect of our program is our industry-leading Addiction Medicine doctors and psychiatrists’ role in our programming. In addition to meeting with clients at the medical clinic each week, our doctors do a once-weekly lecture to explain the critical and often unexplained role biology plays in substance abuse.

Case Management

Our program also offers comprehensive case management. All concerned parties such as parents and probation officers can be updated if proper releases are signed. Family sessions are also offered as a part of the program as well, as addiction is an issue that impacts the entire family system. When the client has identified a concerned 3rd party on intake, program staff will maintain bi-weekly and event-based contact.

Weekly individual sessions are a vital aspect of our program and are conducted weekly by the dually licensed therapist that performs the client’s daily groups. Weekly individual sessions help keep the client on track and help focus the client’s treatment experience.

COVID-19 Considerations

Groups are currently being offered in-person to allow for the most personal treatment experience possible. The program takes all Covid-19 related concerns very seriously. All groups are capped at 12 group members, group members are appropriately spaced, and all group members must wear masks. Each day front desk staff conducts a brief Covid-19 screen, including taking one’s temperature and follow-up questions to ensure you have no symptoms. We ask if you have been exposed to not attend a group until symptom-free and follow the CDC guidelines.

The Kai Shin Clinic and Treatment staff have been offered covid-19 vaccines, and most have been vaccinated.

Group Therapy Schedules

Once enrolled in groups, clients have the option to take advantage of our flexible group schedule. This means that clients can attend any of the group offerings we have available that day.

We currently offer outpatient programming that ranges from:

Medium Intensity = 5 days per week, 3 hours per day.

Group is offered 5 times per day at our University Ave location.
